about me

I am Lou Barton and I’m on a mission to help more people discover the benefits of mind-body tools…to find a little pocket of time in their day for themselves and to nurture all of the good stuff like self-compassion, resilience, kindness, calm, confidence, self-worth, and acceptance - all things that mind-body tools can massively help with.

In the Zen Squad I share 10 minute guided meditations and 60 second mini mindfulness tools to help you navigate the ups and downs of life. Mindfulness doesn’t have to take a long time to be effective, learn how to micro-dose on mindfulness to support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Here’s a little bit more about me…

-        I live on the Isle of Wight with my husband and 4 kids aged 2-8 years old.

-        I am an Integrated Nutrition Health Coach and I’m passionate about helping mums to nourish themselves ON and OFF the plate.

-        I used to live life VERY much in the fast lane. I thought that being busy was a sign of success. I thought that rest was lazy. I thought self-care was self-indulgent. I thought mindfulness was totally woo-woo.

-        After the birth of my 2nd son I experienced postnatal depletion. I guess for me it was almost inevitable that this would take hold due to the above but also added to this I am a chronic people pleaser, a perfectionist, and I don't like asking for help.  These traits and my mindset spelt disaster for a mum of 2 under 2. I was absolutely exhausted and my energy reserves were depleted physically, mentally and emotionally.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

-        When I began to look after myself properly using the combined power of nutrition, mindset, self-care and mindfulness I was able to start feeling stronger again - both physically and emotionally.

-        As well as being a qualified Integrated Nutrition Health Coach, I am also a qualified Mindfulness Teacher and Somatic Stress Release Therapist.

-        For me, self-care isn’t about spending hours working out or meditating every day, but understanding how small moments and simple positive habits can make a really BIG difference to your wellbeing.

-        I want to you help you discover simple and effective tools you can use to help bring more calm, balance and joy into your day.
